Geothermal Heat Pump Loop Installation
Homes and Businesses in St Louis, MO are taking advantage of the most energy efficient and environmentally clean heating and cooling systems available, Geothermal Heat Pumps. These geothermal systems work by drawing thermal energy from the earth and transferring it to the home. This transfer is done through a series of pipes or loops installed under ground. Fluid running through the pipes transfer the thermal energy to the home or business.
Once the pipes are installed, they remain out of sight. The loop is made of materials that are extremely durable but will allow heat to pass through efficiently. The fluid in the loop is water or an environmentally safe antifreeze solution that circulates through the pipes in a closed system.
Hoffmann Brothers installs 4 different types of loop systems: Vertical Loops, Horizontal Loops, Pond/Lake Loops, and Open Loops. Hoffmann Brothers is the premier St. Louis, MO Geothermal Heating and Cooling Contractor. Call today for your Geothermal Energy Audit and learn about the installation of Geothermal Heat Pumps!
Vertical Geothermal Heating and Cooling Loops
The Vertical Loop system is used with the installation of a Geothermal Heat Pump system. This type of loop is the most energy efficient and space saving closed loop option used today. Hoffmann Brothers Heating & Cooling performs Vertical Loop installations every week, with this being the most popular type of loop system installed in the St Louis area. Vertical loops are typical for existing homes or businesses that replace their old heating and cooling system with a Geothermal Heat Pump. It is also popular for homes & businesses that are located in more of an urban area, like St Louis, Missouri, with not a lot of land for digging.   Read more about vertical geothermal loops.
Horizontal Heating and Cooling Geothermal Loops
One of the types of loop systems that Hoffmann Brothers Heating & Air Conditioning installs when putting in a Geothermal Heat Pump is the Horizontal Loop. Horizontal loops are most often used for homes or buildings that are being newly constructed. Horizontal loops require much more surface area than vertical loops and are therefore used less frequently for large projects. The ground conditions for the horizontal loops are best when there is no hard rock. Horizontal loops are the most economical option for smaller projects with plenty of available land space. Read more about horizontal geothermal loops.
Pond/Lake Geothermal Heating and Cooling Loops
A pond loop is a great option for a Geothermal Heat Pump system installation when a large body of water is available near the home or business. This loop system would be the most economical because these loops often require less excavation than vertical and horizontal loops. Coils of pipe are simply placed on the bottom of the pond or lake to capture the geothermal energy. Hoffman Brothers Heating & Air Conditioning is your St Louis Premier Geothermal heating and cooling installation company. Read more about pond/lake geothermal loops.
Open Geothermal Energy Loops
Hoffmann Brothers Heating & Air Conditioning can install an open loop system in ideal conditions. Open Loop systems use ground water from a well as a direct energy source. This system can be installed if an abundant supply of high quality well water is available. A typical home will require 4 to 8 gallons of water per minute. Open loop systems using ground water are usually more efficient than closed system because they are better coupled with ground temperatures. Read more about open geothermal loops.
